Passion Fruit and Pineapple Sangria
Ingredients:
- For the Sangria:
- 1 bottle of white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or a light Chardonnay)
- 1 cup passion fruit juice (or the pulp from 6-8 passion fruits)
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup orange juice (preferably freshly squeezed)
- 1/4 cup triple sec or Cointreau (optional)
- 1/4 cup light rum (optional)
- 1/4 cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
- 2 oranges, thinly sliced
- 2 limes, thinly sliced
- 1-2 passion fruits, for garnish (optional)
- Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)
- For Serving:
- Ice cubes
- Sparkling water or club soda (optional, for added fizz)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Fruit:
- Cut the pineapple into chunks, slice the oranges and limes thinly, and scoop out the pulp from the additional passion fruits if using for garnish.
- Mix the Sangria:
- In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the white wine, passion fruit juice, pineapple juice, and orange juice.
- Add the triple sec and light rum if using.
- Stir in the simple syrup, adjusting the amount to your desired level of sweetness.
- Add the Fruit:
- Add the pineapple chunks, orange slices, and lime slices to the pitcher.
- Stir gently to combine.
- Chill:
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve:
- When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to include some of the fruit in each glass.
- For a fizzy touch, top off each glass with a splash of sparkling water or club soda.
